Putting time and effort into working out, only to see little to no results week after week can be frustrating. Are you stuck in the same old workout routine? Doing the same workouts every week can get boring. When your body gets used to the same workout, the benefits from that workout are minimized. To switch things up, there’s a new cardio & strength program at The Fitness Loft Columbus called “Anything Goes!” This program is constantly being evolved and each class offers something different. This means that your body will never get used to the same boring workout. Each class is about 45 minutes, and focuses on a mixture of cardio and strength training exercises.

 

Doing the Same Workouts is Stopping you from Achieving your Fitness Goals


There's a common saying that most people are familiar with, practice makes perfect. Whether you’re learning an instrument or studying for an exam, the amount of time you put into something increase your chances of improving. Your muscles are a little different. Muscles behave as if they have a mind of their own. Your muscles learn from each workout what to expect next time you workout. After a few weeks, your muscles are used to the routine and it can be hard for them to get excited about working out. If you expected the same thing to happen to you everyday, you would become bored and disengaged. This is exactly what happens to your muscles, they’re bored. Just like you can use multiple different study methods to prepare for an exam, you can use multiple different workouts to work your muscles.


Doing New Workouts is a Wake Up Call to your Muscles


When you’re in a workout rut, the best thing to do is to change things up. There’s simple things that some people do to change up their workouts. Some add more weight or add a few more reps. Others go back to the drawing board and come up with an entirely new plan.  It may also make sense to change the time and location of your workout. Joining a new workout class provides a new type of structure and activity for your muscles to adapt to. There’s evidence that supports both of these methods, and most people will probably find themselves somewhere in between these two options.
